Small group tours - guides Antonella and Malcolm

  • Amalfi Coast Tour

"Travelling with small intimate groups comes with many benefits as I experienced on my September trip to the Amalfi Coast... we travelled by small bus to our perfectly situated hotel in the Amalfi bustling piazza... One daily excursion from the hotel included Positano; a stunning seaside enclave of pastel coloured homes with local cuisine and delicious local wine. This was my favourite place and beckons a return visit.

Ravello is spectacular! For self claimed cooks and foodies this is a highlight. We met our charming Chef Vincenzo, harvested fresh ingredients and prepared a three-course lunch, paired with delicious wine. The number one benefit of smaller groups is getting to know your like-minded comrades and sharing many fun, happy moments together... they were lovely, adventurous, intelligent, fun seekers.

The pace of this trip is relaxed and you can explore at your own speed. No single filed lines trotting like cattle behind a disconnected flag bearing lead person. No hop on hop off bus trips or "way too early" mornings. The accommodations and destinations are hand-picked ”

  • Sicily Tour

"A small group made wandering around the wonderful cities, villages, ancient sites, markets, countryside and seaside towns easy and accessible, allowing for interesting and stimulating conversations with new friends.

Italy With Pleasure restored my faith in group travel. As a single traveller I appreciated the support and friendliness of my fellow travellers and Malcolm.

Very personable experiences organised meticulously by tour leader and company owner Malcolm meant that every lunch, dinner, chocolate and wine tasting, restaurant, guided tour, fabulous accommodation and ample free time enabled the group to enjoy, learn about and appreciate the amazing history and culture of Sicily. A standout highlight was a fun filled, memorable cooking class conducted at a beautiful, ancient, restored monastery now a gorgeous hotel. preparing under the watchful eye of chef Davide and then sitting in the sumptuous dining room to eat our creations was a never to be forgotten experience.

Malcolm has lived and worked in Italy for many years and knew the areas we visited well which provided the added bonus of local knowledge. His ability to speak fluent Italian was a wonderful bonus for those of us who don't.

A memorable travelling experience. Italy With Pleasure does it well! ”

  • Puglia Tour

"Overall excellent. Those wishing to experience the Italian/Puglian way of life, their food, wine, baroque and other history should put this tour high on their list. The accommodation was comfortable, clean, warm and well serviced and being right in the centre of this ancient town provided exactly the right backdrop. The transport was first class, the driver a real star.

The gourmet experience each day was of a very standard, the highlight for us being the final evening at a masseria where we really did prepare our four course meal under the guidance of a chef before sitting down in the most agreeable surroundings and eating it, along with excellent wines. Each town and venue has its characteristics the best of each will be revealed either by Antonella and Malcolm or by one of the guides they employ. To this end, Lecce and Matera are particularly well served by guides. You might well find that the masseria - where you prepare and enjoy your four course meal - might be a highlight. ”

"You have obviously been refining this Amalfi tour with much thoughtfulness. I really have no suggestions for improvement in any area. There was sufficient down time. I loved your stories – fact, lore and legend. As to your understanding of the culture and your ability to convey the subtle nuances, your apparently effortless organization and attention to detail, your management of group dynamics — thank you.”

  • Puglia Tour

"I recently took the Puglia tour run by this small company. It was very successful. We saw a cross section of places in Puglia, enough to give one an excellent overview of this agrarian fertile part of Italy and its history which is almost as intriguing as Sicily (Italy with Pleasure do a tour in Sicily). We also were able to experience an excellent range of the high quality food of Puglia and its cooking. The way the tours are organised is very civilised. After a morning tour, always interesting in itself, we adjourn to a local restaurant for a late lunch and to experience the range of local foods cooked superbly... This tour stays in one place and each day we were escorted in a mini bus to our destination. A most enjoyable experience and well organised with a personal touch”

  • Puglia Tour

"I cannot recommend it more highly. I am widely traveled and have never been on a tour before, so went with some trepidation. It was the absolute highlight of my travels in Italy and definitely the best food I had the whole time. The group was just 7 so fantastic size and we travelled in a very comfortable small mini bus. We were all "Foodies" so immediately had a lot in common. The pace was leisurely with a 9am start and after a morning exploring different villages we adjourned for an amazing long lunch. This was the real surprise as every day it was in a different town with a menu totally focused on regional specialties. It was really just like traveling with a group of friends. Another real highlight was staying in Martina Franca in the apartments. Very comfortable and right in the heart of the village which is very quaint and untouristy. I cannot recommend Italy with Pleasure more highly don't even think about it, just book with them you will not be disappointed I am sure.”

"I... only have praise and good things to say about how wonderful it was. The places that we visited were fascinating and very unique, and the food and wine was delectable. I didn't know what to expect of the trip, but it more than fulfilled any hopes that I had for a great week. Everything was well organised and the atmosphere was friendly and relaxed. I can thoroughly recommend the tour.”

"Your marvellous holiday has left me with wonderful memories of beautiful towns, food and people. Your itinerary is so well balanced it covers all the senses. I loved being based in Martina Franca and not packing and unpacking everyday to move on so that was great and will form my next holiday plan. I thought you both had enormous charm and in depth knowledge and were easy talking to us. I know older generations can be difficult to relate to but you both handled this well. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend you to friends and hopefully I will join you again for a tour elsewhere in Italy. I am missing the architecture, food and landscape already and would love to return. Our last night at the cook school was a magical end to a wonderful holiday.”

“My wife and I took the tour in September 2015, it was very good. We stayed in an apartment in a medieval town centre which made us feel part of the community. The tour group was quite small, 8 people all delightful. We were driven to some very interesting towns and other sites, where guides introduced us to the art and history. We visited a vineyard, olive grove and a sort of cookery school. The tour was full but not too intense so we felt we had enough time to enjoyed the excellent food and wine which were highlights of the tour for us. I wholeheartedly recommend this tour.h location, and we enjoyed all the place we visited and saw. We especially enjoyed seeing Matera. I fell in love with Italy all over again!”

“This was the first time travelling with Italy With Pleasure and we really enjoyed this trip. The balance of organisation and free time was just right and your leadership was great. The tour enabled us to come to know a unique, authentic part of Italy. The range of restaurant choices, walks in the cities, locations of the hotels and rapport amongst the trip participants has made our trip a joy. Thank you and we will certainly travel with Italy With Pleasure again.”

“I truly felt like I was actually living in the village environment, which is part of the experience. On the way to our coffee and croissant breakfast, I would stop at a little fruit stand right outside an older woman's home and purchase some lovely figs. She had walnuts, tomatoes, and figs that were most likely grown on a little piece of land somewhere outside the village. Puglians are such friendly, helpful people. we just seemed to get lost in Martina Franca, hard to believe in this little village. However, sensing our bewilderment, there would always be someone who would actually walk us to our location. I found that so endearing and kind. Since my husband and I were raised on farms, the vineyard and olive tours were interesting and informative; The weather was actually quite nice in late August and early September, in addition our room had good ventiliation. We are looking forward to going back to the region with our family and grandchildren. Wonderful tour, wonderful guides, wonderful experience!! ”

“You held yourselves to the highest standards of excellence in every area, from logistics to quality of commentary. But, even more, the thing that made this trip different from any other tour was your warmth and high spirits. You managed to make every person on the trip into a friend. You took care of everyone and everything, and, uniquely, you gave of yourselves. This cannot be bought at any price.”

"It's been already over a month since we came back from this trip. Italy With Pleasure and the memory is still vivid in our heart. My husband and I took this tour last June, thinking it would be great to experience places less travelled and it turned out to be the best trip ever. I would like to join another tour with them, maybe in Sicily sometime in the future if I have luxury of visiting Italy again. I strongly recommend this Puglia tour to anyone who's adventurous, curious and open-minded and it will be awesome.”
